Fractions

If a unit is divided into any number of equal parts, one or more of these parts are known as a fraction of the unit. Thus a fraction is a number that expresses a part of a group.


All fractions have three parts: a the numerator, b the denominator, and a division symbol. The numerator and the denominator of a fraction are known as its terms. In the simple fraction, the numerator and the denominator are integers.
